The most common questions we get from our clients
Prep makes or breaks your spray tan. Yes, really.
Properly preparing your skin for your tan allows for our luxury products to penetrate & process evenly.
Simply follow the info below to help us GIVE YOU the tan of your dreams.
- Exfoliate 24-48 hours prior with a body scrub and exfoliating mitt. Timing is crucial.
- Stay Hydrated!
- Absolutely no dove soap, dial, Irish spring (any bar soap similar) within 72 hours of your session or after tan! These soaps create a heavy barrier on the skin that disrupts the processing of your tan.
- Make sure to remove any previous self-tanner or spray tan with an exfoliator mitt!
- Avoid showering/shaving/using hair products within 12 hours of your session. (If you must shower right before, please just rinse with cool water, do not use any products that may cling to the skin and block your tan from developing).
- Do not apply any spray tan barriers day of appointment. No deodorant/lotion/perfume/oils/makeup etc.
- Be prepared to wear loose/dark clothing after spray application. Wear long sleeves and long pants to keep the spray tan protected from the elements. Sandals or flip flip flops are recommended for footwear.
- Be prepared for weather conditions! Ex: Bring an umbrella and closed-toed shoes if rain is expected!

Avoid tight clothing such as denim or yoga pants.
My spray tan technique enables clients to get dressed immediately due to minimal tackiness of the solution on the skin. While not a "dry spray," one of my musts is that clients feel comfortable wearing the spray tan with the least fuss.
Of course, drying powder and a fan are always available for you because it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
The classic answer is about 6-8 days. However, your tan may last much longer with proper preparation and maintenance! A great tan extending lotion will extend the life of your tan as well!
With proper care, your spray tan can last 10-14 days! Make sure you drink a lot of water and moisturize your body with a thick body butter. Avoid scrubbing your skin, hot baths, prolonged swimming, and products with citrus, alcohol, and mineral oil.
Don't ask this question. JK...
Orange spray tans happen when a spray tan is left on longer than the recommended rinse time. They also happen when proper prep is not followed.
Follow prep, don't over-process, and your tan will be AMAZING.*
*Skin is the largest organ on our body and is affected by a multitude of factors - diet, weather, medication, hormones, products..etc. So lets do what we can to ensure we're bringing a healthy blank canvas to the spray tan room to give you the best results possible.
- Wait the given amount of processing time until showering. Your artist will instruct you the proper rinse time after your session! This amount of processing time is very important for the proper development of the tan.
- Avoid any activities that may provoke getting wet or sweating while your tan is processing.
- Always wear loose, dark clothing until rinse time. If you are processing over night it is CRUCIAL to wear long loose pants and long loose shirt/sweatshirt to bed!
- Do not apply any lotions, makeup, perfumes etc. to the skin until rinse time.
- When processing time is up, rinse WELL to prevent the cosmetic bronzer (temporary layer) from staining the skin. Rinse until the water is clear.
- Avoid the use of any soaps, shaving, hair washing, etc. during your first rinse.
- Aftercare products are CRUCIAL for your tan. A tan extending lotion and a spray tan soap will give your glow the love it deserves. We have everything you need in studio. Or we suggest brands such as la roche-posay, cetaphil & shea moisture.
- Mineral oils, petroleum, alcohol, parabens and sulfates found in most creams and body washes can cause your tan to fade unevenly and prematurely. So be sure to check your product ingredient list!
- Keeping your body moisturized is KEY to keeping the tan hydrated. Hydrated skin makes for an amazing, long-lasting color. Drinking tons of H2O isn’t a bad idea either 😉
- Avoid the use of hot tubs and chlorinated pools!
- Anti-aging products, AHAs (glycolic, lactic, malic & tartaric acids), Retin-A, Tretinoin, Renova, toners, Accutane, salicylic acid & products similar WILL fade your tan quickly.
- If you are a regular tanner, please be sure to exfoliate your tan off prior to a new application! This will ensure amazing, even and long-lasting results!
No way! If it doesn't smell good, I won't use it.
We suggest getting your spray tan 1-3 days prior to your event! So be sure to schedule appropriately!
The solution will not stain your hair or nails but disposable hair nets are always available as well as makeup wipes if you would like to have your nails wiped off after the spray tan. Go ahead and get your mani/pedi done before your spray tan appointment. We don’t want your legs getting their tan scrubbed off!
The differences are processing time (classic process for 12 hours & express is just 3-6 hours) and shade (level of darkness)! If you're not sure which tan to schedule, that's okay! Select any single session and we will decide together at your consultation which will be best for your skin tone, desired result and schedule the rest of that day/evening!
Since the bronzers in my product are 90% lighter than most other bronzers, transfer is typical minimal to none.
The bronzer from the tan may rub off onto your clothes but will come out in the washing machine. That is why we do suggest wearing long-sleeved, dark clothing to wear while your tan is processing until your first rinse!
This is entirely up to you, your skin and your schedule! Majority of our clients come in every other week!
If you would like to come in every week, I recommend diligent exfoliating prep the night before AND adding the exfoliating treatment to your appointment. You absolutely need all of your spray tan exfoliated off or you'll have a "painting over nail polish situation."
We offer monthly memberships and packages for the dedicated sisters!
Absolutely not. The majority of our clients are fair-skinned! Our lighter clients absolutely love our solutions and technique because we believe in starting off slowly. You will look amazingly natural as long as you be sure to properly prepare for your tan and use proper products to maintain!
Once you feel more comfortable with spray tanning, then we can talk about going darker.
I safely spray tan expecting mamas all the time but always ask your doctor.
Your spray tan needs hydration. So hydrating skin care is great! However, anti-aging & exfoliating products will fade your tan. Avoid AHAs, Retina-A, Tretinoin, toners, Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Accutane & similar products 3 days before your spray tan and afterwards because they will fade your tan quickly.
Your tan can most definitely be affected during times of ovulation, menstruation, menopause and pregnancy. The tan can process lighter or not at all. It can fade blotchy/quickly.
A great spray tan only takes 15 minutes! When you arrive, head up the beautiful staircase to the second floor. If you're early, have a seat and I'll come grab you at your appointment time.
A consultation is always included to answer any remaining questions and make recommendations.
You can get undressed to your comfort level. Most women spray tan topless with a thong or completely nude but you do you, boo boo! (men must wear underwear or swimsuit). Disposable thongs are available complimentary.
Once we complete the spray tan, you can get dressed and we'll go over aftercare and your personal rinse time.
For longer wearing solutions, the rinse time is 12 hours.
For a quick rinse spray tan, the general rule of thumb is 4-6 hours but I will narrow that down for you based on your skin tone and desired outcome.
Unfortunately, yes, and very very badly.
Sunburns can and do absolutely ruin spray tans even 30 days post-burn.
It's not worth the risk and it cannot be fixed.
For this reason, only book a spray tan if you have been healed for 6 weeks.
